FVCC

With cooperation from Flathead Valley Community College, and Mother Nature, we will again be grooming a cross country ski trail on the property behind FVCC. There are approximately  8 kilometers of gentle trails, perfect for all levels of ability. Trails are groomed for both classic and skate techniques.

We receive no funding for grooming operations, and rely on your contributions to pay for fuel and maintenance. A $2 minimum donation is requested. A donation box is located at the trailhead.

To get to the trailhead, turn east at the traffic light on Grandview Drive.  Continue past the first parking lot and turn left into the Arts and Technology parking lot. The trailhead is located to the left of the Early Childhood Center.

The No Dogs, Runners, Snowshoers Rule will be strictly enforced.

GROOMING REPORT FROM STEVE MULLER

Posted – Fri Dec 28, 2012 1:06 am
With the 1 or 2″ of snow we’ve had the last couple days, I’ve been able to groom some trails at the college. Coverage is pretty good, but it’s a bit rough, with some weeds and rocks poking through. But it’s skiable.  With the new tennis court and new road, I’ve had to be a little creative. From the trailhead at the  parking lot, the trail winds around the tennis court, down the hill, and across  the road down to the river (nicest trail). Heading north from the trailhead, it goes around the community garden, across the creek, up the ‘valley’ behind walmart, up the hill into the upper meadow. From there it goes behind the heavy equipment shop and over behind home depot and the new road.  I’ll be adding
more trail and improving conditions as snow and time allows.

Trail distances:

Osborne Loop – 1.17k
Stillwater Loop – .81k
Garden Valley Trail/Loop = 1.3k (formerly known as walmart valley trail)
Hutton Ranch Loop/Big Hill = 1.55k
North Loop/Homer Hill = 1.75k

Total = 6.58k’s
Some of these trails are out and back/connectors, so the distance will be greater.
